Zulu needs healing funds to Zip around again

At only 8 months of age, Zulu was hit by a car, and the right side of his pelvis crushed.

On September 6th, we received a call from the Emergency Animal Clinic requesting assistance with a pup that had been hit by a car. Although we didn't have the funds, we took him in.

September 7th, Zulu was taken to River Valley Equine and Small Animal Hospital in Niles, MI for x-rays. Here is where the good news and bad news come in. The good news was that his femur, femur head, and spine were is very good shape. The bad news was that he had two broken toes and the right side of his pelvis was pushed toward his midline. The two portions of bones connecting the top and bottom if the pelvis were broken as well as the top of the socket which holds the femur on place in the pelvis.

Since the top and bottom bones were crushed, there is no surgery available for repair. He will be on 6 weeks of crate rest, more x-rays, pain meds, and soft food while his pelvis relaxes and then calcifies in those broken areas. After the 6 weeks, he will begin physical therapy.

We are looking at $1,000 for his treatment. To donate to his rehabilitation, press the PayPal donate button on the home page or send a check with ZULU in the memo portion to Dream Paws Rescue; 3015 Wild Cherry Rdg W; Mishawaka, IN 46544.   All donations are tax-deductible.
